As the year comes to a close, I find myself reflecting on the incredible resilience and strength of women worldwide and the privilege I have to serve them through Kiva’s mission. Yet, I often feel like I could—and should—be doing more to support women. At times, I feel overwhelmed by the need in the world. What has helped in these moments is thinking about small, concrete actions that can make a difference. If you’re feeling the same, I’ve put together this list of simple but impactful actions you can take today to support women around the globe.
1. Be informed
Knowledge is power. Staying informed about the challenges and opportunities women face is the first step to meaningful action. Subscribe to Invest in Women on LinkedIn to stay updated on trends, insights, and inspiring stories about advancing women’s economic equity. It’s a quick, easy way to stay engaged.
2. Amplify our mission
Social media is a powerful tool for advocacy. Follow Kiva on LinkedIn, TikTok, Facebook, and Instagram—and share our posts to help spread awareness. You’ll be seeing several posts over the coming weeks that focus on our support to women around the world. Every like, share, and comment matters.
3. Buy from women
Your purchases can make a powerful statement. Support women-owned or women-operated social enterprises by shopping with purpose. This blog features unique gifts from social enterprises making a difference. Some very important people in my life will be getting spices from Diaspora Spice Co, a woman-owned and operated business, as holiday gifts this year.
4. Lend to a woman
The most impactful thing you can do is to support someone with the resources they need to thrive. Through Kiva, you can lend to a woman to support their goals and dreams. From farmers looking to diversify their crops and entrepreneurs launching a business, to mothers seeking clean water for their families and social enterprise leaders making that happen, women around the world are receiving the resources they need through Kiva loans.

Why It Matters
Over 740 million women worldwide are unbanked, meaning they lack access to basic financial tools like banking or savings accounts. Many face barriers to traditional financial services due to legal, social, and gender norms. At Kiva, 80% of our loans go to women, and while we’ve already reached over 4 million women, there are so many more that need financial access. And we can’t do it alone.
