Trustee: Idaho Women's Business Center

Boise, ID

Overview

Why are you interested in becoming a Trustee?
Women entrepreneurs are facing a race against time given the multitude of challenges that have increased due to COVID-19. There can be no doubt that investment in women entrepreneurs makes financial sense, with women-owned businesses providing a lifeline to local, state, national and global economies. Women's untapped contribution could help provide economies, the boost that they desperately need. We have witnessed the devastating and disproportionate impact of COVID-19 on the lives of our clients and wish to assist them in finding innovative ways to find funding through the Kiva platform.
What is the mission of your organization?
The mission of the Idaho WBC is to serve all women, cultures and communities in achieving their educational, professional and entrepreneurial goals. We believe in the potential of women, minorities, immigrants and families and choose to educate, train and help them obtain successful business ownership and employment.

Borrower Due Diligence

How will you decide who to endorse as a borrower? What due diligence will you conduct?
The Idaho Women’s Business Center is an awardee of a women's business center grant and funded in part by the SBA. For this reason, all borrowers will receive technical assistance from the IWBC team and work on a business plan to ensure that they are suitable candidates for this loan. We understand the barriers of becoming bankable for the underserved and under resourced. The IWBC team will facilitate regular one on one counseling sessions with each borrow to make sure they are educated on the process of repayment to the lenders of the Kiva loan. We will also assist in capturing their success as they are approved, funded and repaid.
