Why are you interested in becoming a Trustee?

We want to provide support and supply more capital to more entrepreneurs in the St. Louis region, with a focus on Black and Latinx entrepreneurs. We want to provide multiple routes for entrepreneurs to grow. By approaching entrepreneurship with an impact and racial equity lens, we believe we can address community wealth and create more thriving communities.

What is the mission of your organization?

WEPOWER is solving our region’s biggest systemic challenges. We activate community power to re-design education, economic, health, and justice systems to be just and equitable for all.

Borrower Due Diligence

How will you decide who to endorse as a borrower? What due diligence will you conduct?

In addition to the Kiva fundamentals (strong business story, clarity on business loan use, strong profile photo, etc.) we will evaluate borrowers by having a critical eye towards their vision, their current traction and trajectory, and their receptiveness to a platform like Kiva. The Kiva process relies on social capital and connections and if we see borrowers being excited, prepared, and open to leveraging these values, this will increase their chances of successfully raising a campaign.
