Trustee: FSIC American Innovation and Opportunity Fund (AIOF)

WASHINGTON, DC

Overview

Why are you interested in becoming a Trustee?
AIOF designs and facilitates workshops/symposiums for aspiring entrepreneurs and existing small businesses in underserved and minority communities. Because of this we meet a lot of entrepreneurs who need funding and usually denied by traditional banks. AIOF would like to have more safe and responsible funding options, like the Kiva platform, to offer to entrepreneurs we work with.
What is the mission of your organization?
Renewing communities through innovation and economic empowerment

Borrower Due Diligence

How will you decide who to endorse as a borrower? What due diligence will you conduct?
AIOF would be willing to endorse an applicant/program participant if: • They are a minority, women or underserved entrepreneur • They attend one of our small business education or mentoring workshops and • We determine they have the basic personal and professional skills to function as a small business owner and • They display an aptitude to understand the concepts discuss during the financial literacy training segment of our program and • They have or through one of our mentors build a workable business plan and budget OR • After the training/symposium we believe they are a seasoned business owner and understand all of the above concepts.
