Why are you interested in becoming a Trustee?

Mandela Partners leads a community-driven economic framework to improve health, create wealth and build assets in low-income communities. Becoming a Kiva Zip Trustee allows our community entrepreneurs to access an economic empowerment tool that will allow them to launch or grow community-owned businesses.

What is the mission of your organization?

Mandela Partners is a non-profit organization that works in partnership with local residents, family farmers, and community-based businesses to improve health, create wealth, and build assets through cooperative food enterprises in low income communities.

Borrower Due Diligence

How will you decide who to endorse as a borrower? What due diligence will you conduct?

Mandela Partners endorses community entrepreneurs that are part of our business advising program. This includes support to develop business plans, permitting, marketing strategies, financial projections, and other entrepreneur specific needs. Additionally, related to Kiva loans, we review personal budgets and business cash flows, credit reports, and vet loan use.
