What is the mission of your organization?

Long Beach Fresh is dedicated to expanding Long Beach’s local food economy and infrastructure in ways that benefit local communities. We think that everyone should have affordable access to good food – food that is nutritious, culturally relevant, and that has integrity in how it’s produced and distributed.

Borrower Due Diligence

How will you decide who to endorse as a borrower? What due diligence will you conduct?

Co-directors Ryan Smolar and Tony Damico have strong experience in local business and community development. They will personally review applicants, interview them, and establish the viability and relevance of their business to Long Beach's demographic, social, and cultural needs. Their work at Long Beach Fresh has them tapped into these key aspects of food system development, through their community working groups, public events, collaboration and alignment with more than 50 local food businesses and organizations.
