Annapolis, MD

Overview

Why are you interested in becoming a Trustee?
Our nonprofit works with a number of farmers and vendors who sell at farmers markets who likely could take advantage of Kiva Loans to grow their businesses.
What is the mission of your organization?
The Maryland Farmers Market Association (MDFMA) was founded in 2012 to connect people with Maryland farmers markets and to provide resources and coordinated services to market managers, farmers and consumers alike. A statewide nonprofit, the MDFMA operates programs to provide access to healthy local food for all and improve the quality of and transparency at Maryland farmers markets.

Borrower Due Diligence

How will you decide who to endorse as a borrower? What due diligence will you conduct?
We will request a meeting with the potential borrower, including review of their financials, reporting, budget, and plan for repayment of the loan. As appropriate, we will assist them with planning, budgeting, financial tools and resources, and planning to ensure that their loan is both effectively used to grow their business as well as that it will be repaid timely.
