Why are you interested in becoming a Trustee?

Being a Kiva Detroit Trustee is important to me because KIVA offers another opportunity to support the creative community. Being educated in best business practices isn't enough. Artists also need low cost, non-traditional funding options which KIVA provides. Creative entrepreneurs that can successfully grow their art business will have a greater chance to benefit from the Kiva opportunity I present them with as a Trustee.

Borrower Due Diligence

How will you decide who to endorse as a borrower? What due diligence will you conduct?

I prefer that any borrower I endorse be a Mind Your Art Business course graduate or a DABI private client but I will certainly review any and all borrower requests. Obviously, it's important that the borrower has strong business acumen and a financial plan laid so they know that repayment won't overwhelm them emotionally and financially. I certainly want to speak to any potential borrower wanting me to be their Trustee, that hasn't gone through my Course or worked with me, privately to make sure they are emotionally and financially ready for a KIVA loan.
