Partner description:
Diaconía Asociación para el Desarrollo del Paraguay (Diaconía ADP) is an NGO founded in 2011 that promotes community development and employment opportunities for lower income Paraguayans by providing financial services and trainings. The organization's motto is "Creer, Aprender y Crecer, motivos para Vivir," which in English means “Believe, Learn and Grow, motivations to Live.”
Diaconía ADP works with more than 2,300 clients, of which the majority are women, in and around the capital city of Asunción. Clients belong to groups called "micro-credit associations," to which loans are distributed and for which trainings are held to create and grow clients’ businesses.
A unique lending approach:
Diaconía ADP has a simple business model that provides microfinance to a portfolio comprised mostly of group loans. Diaconía ADP borrowers have access to professional trainings, which include workshops and vocational courses offered by local governments and private organizations in skills such as baking, sewing, hairdressing, and motorcycle maintenance. Borrowers also have access to personal financial management courses, as well as courses in encouragement and spiritual motivation.
