Partner description:

Chamroeun (meaning “progress” in Khmer) is a microfinance institution with a focus on serving the very poor in Cambodia by providing adapted loans, savings and insurance services. They operate in 16 provinces across Cambodia.

Chamroeun demonstrates a strong commitment to social performance and impact, and their current shareholders are all socially motivated organizations.

A unique lending approach:

Chamroeun provides individual and group loans for working capital or investment. The majority of loans are for small businesses to allow them to startup or scale.

If a borrower has successfully repaid a number of individual or group loans, they can graduate to an entrepreneur loan that provides more capital for a longer repayment period.

Along with financial services, they provide a comprehensive range of non-financial services to their clients including business training, financial literacy, and social and environmental welfare. They also provide microinsurance through a partner and have developed the capability to receive electronic payments, which is an added convenience for clients.
