- I loan because:
- My hope is that an economically sound injection of capital (i.e. a loan) into poor communities will ripple in the local economy, resulting in a large benefit for a small investment. My money and my absorption of the risk of these loans allows the process to happen faster than before. I also believe that Kiva, and microlending in general, is not a substitute for charity or government-based initiatives aimed at helping those in need. Instead, Kiva bridges the gap between the needs of the destitute and the needs of the middle class.
