- Josefina "Pina" Wong was born on May 31, 1923 in Leon, Nicaragua. She had a long and fulfilling life which included starting up and running Supermercados Wong, a successful grocery store business with her husband Juan Wong. In loving memory of Pinita and Juan Wong, their family and friends have come together to start a grass-roots foundation to help struggling families in Latin America and Asia (Pina was 1/2 Chinese and 1/2 Nicaraguan and Juan was 100% Chinese). We wish to give others the opportunity to "lift themselves by the bootstraps" out of poverty and into more productive, fulfilling lives just like Pina and Juan did... with the help of a small loan!
