Immaculate's story

Immaculate is 59 years old and lives in the town of Makindye in the Kabuusu region of Uganda. She is married and has 5 children. For the past 15 years, Immaculate has been working hard to manage her water distribution business, in which distributes water for domestic use. To help expand her business, Immaculate has requested a loan of 1,200,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to pay the bills for the water that she redistributes and will help her to generate greater profits and improve on her family standards of living by providing them with food.

Immaculate hopes that in the future she will be able to buy a piece pf land and build a house of her own. She is a member of BRAC's microfinance program that primarily serves small group members like her who do not have collateral for commercial loans but do have businesses that have grown and qualify for microloans.
