Hawa
A loan of $425 helps to buy more beans to sell.

Hawa's story
Hawa is 52 years old and lives in the town of Kabuusu in the Makindye region of Uganda. She is married and has six children, four of whom are currently in school.
For the past six years, Hawa has been working hard to manage her farming, from which she sells fresh beans. To help expand her business, Hawa has requested a loan of 1,500,000 Ugandan shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy more beans to sell, and will help Hawa to generate greater profits.
Her production will increase, and she will attract more revenue. She will manage to provide the basic needs for her family, such as food and clothes for her children. In the future Hawa hopes she will be able to finish building her house.
Hawa is a member of BRAC's micro finance program. It primarily serves small-group members like her who do not have collateral for commercial loans but do have businesses that have grown and qualify for micro loans.
