Solome
A loan of $500 helps to buy more fresh varieties of food for breakfast, lunch and a fridge for soft drinks at her restaurant.

Solome's story
Solome is 54 years old and lives in the town of Njeru in the Mukono region of Uganda. She is married and has 7 children with 2 of them currently in school. For the past 3 years, Solome has been working hard to manage her restaurant, which sells cooked food and soft drinks.
To help expand her business, Solome has requested a loan of 1,800,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy more fresh varieties of food for breakfast, lunch and a fridge for soft drinks. It will also help Solome to generate greater profits and improve on her family's standard of living by providing them with enough food.
Solome hopes that in the future she will be able to own a second different business. She is a member of BRAC's microfinance program that primarily serves small group members like her who do not have collateral for commercial loans, but do have businesses that have grown and qualify for microloans.
