José's story

José is an indigenous farmer from Caldono, Cauca, with 19 years of experience in coffee cultivation. On a hectare of land assigned by the indigenous council, he has over 5,000 coffee plants that produce more than half a ton. His crops receive optimal maintenance thanks to the constant care he provides using traditional techniques from his ethnic group, respecting the natural cycles of the land and promoting ecological balance.

José lives with his wife and son in a house built on his land. His wife is a key support in managing the household and the farm work, ensuring the family’s well-being and the successful development of the production.

A loan of $2,556,463 COP allows José to buy organic fertilizers rich in potassium, which helps improve the quality of his harvests and maintain the sustainability of his coffee production.
