A loan of $825 helps to purchase weaves, hair lotions, and hair treatments.

Rehema's story
Rehema is 38 years old and lives in the town of Mityana in the Mityana region of Uganda. She is married and has 2 children who are both currently in school. For the past 15 years, Rehema has been working hard to manage her beauty salon, which plaits hair and does hair treatments. To help expand her business, Rehema has requested a loan of 3,000,000 UGX from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to purchase weaves, hair lotions, and hair treatments to attract more customers. This will help Rehema to generate greater profits and improve her family's standard of living by providing them with enough food and clothes. Rehema hopes that in the future, she will be able to buy more, larger dryers. She is a member of BRAC's microfinance program that primarily serves small group members like her who do not have collateral for commercial loans but do have businesses that have grown and qualify for microloans.
