Hasifah's story

Hasifah is 52 years old and lives in the town of Kabuusu in the Makidye region of Uganda. She is married and has 7 children with 2 of them currently in school. For the past 10 years, Hasifah has been working hard to manage her Grocery store, which sells raw food. To help expand her business, Hasifah has requested a loan of 5000000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to purchase for more raw food and vegetables for resale and will help Hasifah to generate greater profits and manage to buy food for her family. Hasifah hopes that in the future she will be able to expand more on her business. She is a member of BRAC's microfinance program that primarily serves small group members like her who do not have collateral for commercial loans but do have businesses that have grown and qualify for microloans.
