Liz's story

My name is Liz, and I come from the beautiful city of Maracaibo, Venezuela. I am the eldest of three siblings, and from a young age, I learned the importance of perseverance, responsibility, and making sacrifices for those you love. I studied business administration in Venezuela and later specialized in Podiatry in my home country and Chile. Over the years, I worked in various fields, from banks to car dealerships, local governments, and dental offices. Every job taught me valuable lessons, helping me grow, mature, and become more determined.

When the situation in my country became increasingly complex, and with three children to support, I bravely decided to leave everything behind in search of a better future for my family. My first stop was Chile, where I lived for four years. It was a period of intense challenges. I had to work tirelessly, often alone, to provide for my children and ensure their future. But each day, I carried with me the hope of a better life for them.

In 2022, I arrived in Madison, Wisconsin, full of dreams and determination. I stayed with a relative at first, but soon after, we found our place. Still, my biggest challenge here has been learning English and finding a stable job. But I refused to let that stop me. I’ve taken on different jobs while reconnecting with my passion for caring for, treating, and beautifying feet. I’m also preparing to earn my certification as a podiatrist in this country. Adapting to a new climate, culture, and language was tough, but it didn’t break me. Instead, it fueled my determination to keep moving forward, reinventing myself, and never giving up.

Today, my dreams are clearer than ever. My immediate goals are to improve my English, earn my certification and license in podiatry, buy a home for my family, and continue helping those I love back in Venezuela. The love drives every step I take, and I hope for my children and parents. They are why I continue striving, moving forward, and fighting through every obstacle. No matter how difficult the road is, I will achieve everything I set my heart on with faith, hard work, and love.
