32 year old Alba Monserrate is single and lives with her parents in Calderón parish in Portoviejo canton, a farming community of hard working laborers working in agriculture and raising livestock. Alba is a hard worker determined to earn an income to pay for expenses and help her family get ahead. They have a farm where they grow bananas, and they hope that with the help of loans they can improve the quality of their crops. They also raise pigs and use natural irrigation systems as well as organic fertilizer and insecticide, so that in addition to ensuring good harvests they are protecting the environment.
