Lindsay's story

My name is Lindsay from the Crow Creek Sioux Tribe of South Dakota. I currently reside in Miami, Florida, where I founded Black Swan Solutions in 2022. It has always been my intention to create products that had Indigenous people in mind. As such, my first products are related to haircare. I have four brothers and four sisters all with different varieties of hair textures. We grew up hearing our mother's painful stories of having her hair forcibly cut at Catholic boarding school here in the United States. This was done in a concerted effort to remove Indigenous children from their culture. I grew up seeing Black Americans with Afro-texture battle to wear their hair naturally. Now, we are in a place where natural hair textures are being embraced. As such, we are creating products that have diverse hair textures in mind.

It has always been my desire to be a business owner and a positive role model for my community. Entrepreneurship has always called my name and this passion has grown from selling t-shirts to having an incorporated company that will sell my own inventions. The community I come from is very small, but it has a big place in my heart and motivates me to bring healing modalities and economic freedom to my tribal members.
