Good Nature Agro
A loan of $100,000 helps to provide better seeds and market access to boost the income of 2,000 Zambian smallholder farmers.
Good Nature Agro's story
“My life has changed because when I sell my seeds after harvest, I am able to take my kids to school.”
“GNA empowers farmers by giving them seeds at a good price and providing a ready market after harvest.”
These are quotes from two farmers working with Good Nature Agro (GNA), an agricultural social enterprise established in 2014 with a mission to impact the lives of small-scale farmers in Africa positively. They achieve this by providing farmers with the best seeds, access to the right inputs on credit, and assuring a market for all the produce. GNA’s ultimate goal is to help these farmers move from poverty and join the middle-class. They have developed an innovative and straightforward model that addresses the most pressing needs of small-scale farmers.
With a $100,000 Kiva loan, GNA will provide 2,000 smallholder farmers in Zambia with the financing, training, high-quality inputs, and access to reliable markets they need to increase their net incomes and move out of poverty. GNA farmers have earned an average of three times (3x) the income compared to the mono-crop of maize that they traditionally grow. This allows them to access healthcare, education, food, and household needs. This is GNA’s first loan through the Kiva Social Enterprise program.
