Susan's story
I started Bird and Bee Hawaii to combine my love for sustainable agriculture with my deep respect for nature and supporting local community. Growing up surrounded by my family's farm with rich biodiversity, I developed an early appreciation for the role bees play in maintaining healthy ecosystems, which inspired me to support local beekeepers and promote education about these vital pollinators. My background in community engagement and hands-on experience in beekeeping have shaped my vision for the business. I worked as a volunteer in the Peace Corps and later in various educational positions in nature.
What drives me every day is the opportunity to empower others through education and access to quality beekeeping supplies. I am passionate about fostering a thriving beekeeping community, not only to support local agriculture but also to protect the delicate balance of our island's ecosystems. Seeing the growth and success of fellow beekeepers motivates me to keep expanding Bird and Bee Hawaii's impact.
