Lovinsa
A loan of $825 helps to purchase more charcoal for resale.
Lovinsa's story
Lovinsa is 50 years old and lives in the town of Matugga in the Kawempa region of Uganda. She is married and has 6 children. For the past 7 years, Lovinsa has been working hard to manage her retail shop, which sells charcoal.
To help expand her business, Lovinsa has requested a loan of 3,000,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to purchase more charcoal for resale and help Lovinsa generate greater profits. This will enable her to repay the loan on time and pay some of the house bills.
Lovinsa hopes that in the future she will be able to acquire land and construct a house of her own. She is a member of BRAC's Microfinance Program (MF). The program primarily serves small group members like her, who do not have collateral for commercial loans, but do have businesses that have grown and qualify for microloans.
