Sendy's story

Meet this beautiful lady over here named Sendy. She is 44 years of age. She is a mother of four kids, and her husband works as a carpenter.

The weekly pay of her husband is not enough to feed the kids and pay their bills. This is why she plans to run this weaving business to help her husband provide for the family. Sendy learned how to do weaving from her aunty and her mother. They all join into a group of women consisting of 10 women. Weaving is one of their daily routines. They can weave taovala [traditional clothing wraps], mats and fihu [fine mats]. They focus on weaving the taovala because it's easy for them to sell out when they need money. The taovala they weave in different sizes and styles, and the price depends on the size of the taovala.

This time she received a lot of orders from her regular customers, but the pandanus that she uses for her weaving is not enough. This is why she applied for this loan to help her buy more pandanus to finish up her weaving to satisfy the customers' needs and wants.
