Soad's story

Born in 1960, Soad a Lebanese woman, has been working from home in weaving and handcrafts for more than 20 years. She also prepares homemade food and sells it to her growing network of loyal clients from different parts of Lebanon.

She is married and lives with her husband in their Beirut apartment. Soad's husband is a taxi driver and manages to cover a good part of the housing expenses in general.

Soad is known by her relatives to be ambitious and dedicated to her work. She is always working hard to improve the quality of her products. For the first time, Soad is asking for a loan of LBP 2,056,987 from Kiva field partner Ibdaa. She needs the loan to buy new weaving equipment and material for her business. She will also be using part of the loan to renovate her house before the holidays. In fact, she is planning on buying a new living room.
