A loan helped to buy embroidery raw materials for her work.


Uzma Kousar's story

Uzma is a 34-year-old, married woman, who lives in the area of Multan, Pakistan. She is a mother of two children, one attending the high school. Her husband is responsible to fulfill the needs of the entire family. But Uzma has been running an embroidery business for two years, to meet other expenses.

Her embroidery business is very famous in the colony, and that is the reason her business runs well. Due to good relations her business has increased. She is a brave woman. Uzma buys materials, such as hand-embroidery kits, ribbon, needles and embroidery machine, from the market. Another person handles her transactions with her customers. She has decided that she would like to sell her embroidery items directly in the market, so that she can earn better profit for her family. She has become an expert in the embroidery business.

Uzma asked for a loan so she will be able to buy raw materials from the market. She wants to meet the demand for bridal dresses. That is why she wants to buy thread, fancy cloths, sequins and pearls of various colours, in advance, to have in stock. She requires some capital to buy the desired items, but she does not have sufficient cash on hand. Therefore, Uzma humbly requested a loan from BRAC Pakistan.

Through this loan, she will be able to buy the thread, fancy cloths, sequins, and pearls of various colours that she needs.
