Mercelle, 41, is married with six children aged between nine and 23 years. She is also the leader of this group called Dukore, which means “Let's work” in English. The members sell different products, and they wish to expand their businesses in order to make more profits and have a better future. As their leader, Mercelle has applied for a group loan of 6,260,000 RWF through Kiva's field partner Urwego to be apportioned among the group members.
For the past ten years Mercelle has sold produce such as Irish potatoes, cassava and bananas. With her portion of the loan she would like to buy more produce to sell. With her profits she will pay her children’s school fees.
