A loan helped to buy pants, blouses, t-shirts and other clothing.

Johanna Elizabeth's story

The "21 De Octubre" communal bank meets every fortnight in Montecristi Canton, known for it's rich pre-colonial culture and for it's crafts. It is known nationally and internationally as the home of the famous Panama hat.

Johanna lives in this place. She is 21 years old, married and from this realtionship has a five year old daughter who goes to school. Her husband is a bricklayer.

Johanna is a woman who likes to work in order to help her husband get ahead with their household. So she works selling all types of clothing. Her method of selling is from door-to-door. She goes out three tines a week and also sells at her house. She takes advantage of the mornings when she takes her daughter to school to sell her merchandise. She leaves the goods on credit and collects every 8 or 15 days depending on the client. She has been doing this business for more than a year which she has improved with the help of the loans. For this reason she is grateful to the people who support her so that she can get a loan.

She will use this loan to buy pants, blouses, t-shirts and other clothing. She has been in the communal bank for two years and she likes it as the loans allow her to get ahead.

Her dream is to provide her daughter with the best.
