A loan helped to pay for her children's university education expenses, in addition to buying a new tailoring machine and necessary threads.

Chafika's story

Chafika is a 61-year-old widowed mother of two who has struggled since 1980, when her husband passed away, to raise and teach her children to make sure that they can have a better living. Chafika is a well known tailor in her region. She is a hard worker who is putting so much effort to expand her working sector and develop her family's living.

Her business income is barely enough to cover her family's daily living needs, thus an acquired loan from Kiva's field partner Al Majmoua, will help her a lot in paying for her children's university education expenses. Chafika will also use part of the loan to buy a new tailoring machine and necessary threads.

She hopes to stay in good health and continue supporting her children. Chafika admits that being the hardworking father and the caring mother is hard to do but she managed to overcome the hardest issues that anyone might face.
