Rukia's Group's story

Rukia is a 42-year-old married woman. She is living with her husband and five children in the area of Lahore, Pakistan. She is doing embroidery work by hand at home and financially supporting her family. Rukia belongs to a poor family; her husband’s income is very poor so she decided to start embroidery work at home. She has been learning these arts from childhood, now she adopted it for her occupation. This has enabled her to be independet and to earn sufficient income.

She requested a loan from Kiva’s field partner BRAC Pakistan, to purchase stocks of threads, silk, fancy sequins, and pearls of various colors. She hopes that this loan will prove beneficial for her and her family. Rukia is very thankful to Kiva and BRAC Pakistan.
