Ann's story

Ann, 26 years of age, is a hardworking, honest, and dedicated farmer. She is based in Chuka. It is a remote town, with harsh living conditions because of the bad terrain in the region. She is happily married, and together with her husband has one child. Her primary sources of income are dairy goat milk,dairy cow milk, poultry. Ann is a strong woman with tough skin, and she has managed to take care of her family with her income from milk selling.

The Chuka area has conditions that favor dairy goat farming. Ann has always wanted to take care of another dairy goat, but a lack of capital has prevented her. She is seeking a loan to buy an additional dairy goat. The dairy goat she intends to buy is not just an ordinary goat, but a breed that produces between 1 and 2 litres of milk a day. With this goat Ann's farm will produce more milk, which will translate to more income. Demand for goat milk in the Chuka area is high, but the supply is low.

Her increased income will allow Ann to provide a secure future for her soon to go school-going child, by paying her tuition fees. She believes that education is the gateway to success. Her vision is to keep even more dairy goats,
