A loan helped to buy cattle and an industrial sewing machine for two businesses.

Juan Ramiro's story

Juan is 32 years old, single and has no children. He has a business making shoes.

Juan is enterprising, determined, and persevering. He works in Batallas, 60 kilometres from the city. Batallas is a rural area near Lake Titicaca.

Juan is thin, dark-skinned and has grey hair. His native language is Aymara but he also speaks Spanish. Juan lives in a house of adobe bricks that has electricity and water taken from a well.

Juan is a cobbler: he repairs shoes by, for example, changing the heel or sole, fixing rips, and more.

Juan says, "I have two jobs - one is raising cattle, the other is my cobbler's workshop."

The strong-point of Juan's trades is that he is independent. The disadvantage, however, is the lack of capital to buy tools for his cobbler's workshop.

Juan's dreams are to make improvements to his businesses: he wants to buy an industrial sewing machine and to buy cattle. This is Juan's first loan with Emprender in the six years that he has had both businesses.

For the above reasons, Juan is applying for a loan in order to buy an industrial sewing machine and to buy cattle for his two businesses.
