Tambo is a hardworking 36-year-old married woman with 5 children. She lives in Kunkuna, a suburb of Bimbilla, in the northern region of Ghana. In the group photo, Tambo is the woman squatting in front with both hands on a shea nuts basin.
Tambo belongs the ‘Gnunimbohi Wuni – Kunkuna’ group, made up of shea nuts and rice processors, which has been in business for the past seven years. The group has been trained by Grameen Ghana on ways to improve their shea nuts and rice processing business in order to satisfy customers’ quality preference for a sustainable market in Ghana.
Tambo and her group have asked for a loan of GHC 14,400. Tambo’s share of the loan is GHC 800, which she would use to buy shea nuts from nuts pickers and processors for processing into shea butter to sell at local markets. Tambo would earn more income to pay off this loan, grow her business and care for her children.
