Aissata Boukary is the woman holding traditional ‘pagne’ cloth in the photo. She is a Malian woman, 40 years old, and the married mother of six children, of whom three are in school. Her husband is a farmer.
Aissata Boukary has been an artisan in the dyeing of 'pagnes' (the colorful cloth of western Africa) for twenty years. She has turned to RMCR to increase her sales and to purchase many rolls of ‘pagne’ cloth. She makes her purchases and sales at the fairs in her town.
Through the dyeing of cloth, she manages to cover the sundry needs of her children and her family. She is often confronted with drops in sales and faces the challenges of retailers in her town.
In the days to come, Aissata Boukary would like to have a bigger loan to purchase more rolls of ‘pagne’ cloth, so as to have more profit and to buy her own machine for dyeing fabrics.
