A loan helped a member to buy additional volume of shea nuts for processing into shea-butter for sale.

Tungteeya - Kunkuna Group's story

Memunatu is a 35-year-old native of Kunkuna, Bimbilla in Northern Ghana. Memunatu is married and has 4 children. She belongs to a predominantly shea processor women group called Tungteeya - Kunkuna, Bimbilla. Memunatu is the woman squatting with both hands on the basin of Shea nuts in the group photo.

Memunatu and her group have been in the trade for the past eight years with a good customer base. Memunatu’s shea-butter meets the quality requirements of her buyers, so there is a ready market for her products and she enjoys doing the business because she gets good income from it.
Memunatu and group have asked for a loan of GHC 15,800.00 with her share of the loan being GHC 1,500.00 which she would use to buy additional volume of shea nuts for processing into shea-butter for sale. She wishes to get more income to pay-back this loan and grow her business and as well support her family.

Memunatu thanks Kiva lenders for being so supportive.
