The Mujer Los Girasoles (Sunflower Women) credit group was formed three years ago in a rural community of Pococí called Maravilla. Six women came together so that they could gain access to credit and join to the Fundacion Mujer program. This is their third loan and they have always responsibly made their payments by the agreed-upon date. These women fit the requirements to continue participating in the Reglas de Oro program because because they see the opportunity to grow in their productive activities, and the majority of them are the heads of their households and count on a minimum contribution of child support for their children. This is their main motivation to work hard so that they can move ahead with their children.
Ileana is a single woman and mother of 4 children. She lives in a common-law marriage with their father. Three of her children are in secondary school and one is in primary school. She started this business because she has a big family and the salary that her partner makes is too small to maintain her family. She makes a living raising chickens on the patio of her house and selling them later. Her customers are from the community and sales are good. She takes care of her animals without neglecting her family.
This women's credit group is seeking growth and improvement for themselves and their families. Besides Ileana, there are five more group members who invest their loans in various businesses such as traveling clothing sales, catalog sales, raising chickens and buying primary ingredients for a restaurant. All of the women are very hard workers who want the best for themselves and their families. They are seeking financing to reinforce their business ventures and fulfill their dreams.
