Catarina, (first on the left in the photo) is a 41-year-old woman who is happily married, with a beautiful family of three children between the ages of ten and twenty-two. This humble family lives in a community of the village of Xojolá
In order to provide for her family, Catarina grows and sells coffee, and thanks to the care and dedication that she puts into working her fields, she is one of the best known coffee producers in the region.
In spite of all her efforts, it's not possible for Catarina to maintain her coffee crop, but thanks to her leadership, she has been able to organize a group of women in order to request a loan and cover the needs that they have. With the loan, Catarina will purchase fertilizer, and pay workers for her coffee crop.
Catarina's great dream is to purchase five cuerdas [a traditional unit of land measurement] of coffee in order to expand her crop.
