A loan helped to buy rice seeds and organic fertilizer to enhance her crop yields.

Sokheng's story

Sokheng, 42, is a bread-winner of a single-parent family. She is a widowed mother of three children, one of whom is in school and depending on her.

For 13 years, Sokheng has been working hard to grow rice as the main source of the family’s income. Additionally, she is growing vegetables to supplement her income. Since the crop was flooded, she could not earn sufficient income to support her family’s needs.

Lack of working capital leads her to apply for a loan from VisionFund Cambodia (Kiva’s partner) and it will be the first loan cycle for her. Sokheng will use her loan to buy rice seeds and organic fertilizer to enhance the crop yields.

She hopes to get more crop yields, to upgrade her standard of living.
