Nim, 37, is a local farmer living in remote area of Kampong Cham province and a mother of two dependent children, one of whom is in school while another one is working for others for a fee to supplement family’s income. The main income of Nim’s family is from rice growing, which she has been involved in for years. The rice farm has been growing slowly and produced low outputs.
This is the third time for her with VisionFund (Kiva’s partner) and the past loans were completely paid back. Based on the previous loan, Nim has improved her family’s living condition. Leading a group of four members, Nim will use her entire loan portion to pay for the plowing fee and buying organic fertilizers to support the rice farming business. She hopes that this loan will enable her to increase more income so as to buy household appliances for her family.
