A loan helped a member to process six more bags of shea nuts.

Tungteeya - Kpatari-Bugu Group's story

Meli is a hard-working 35-year-old woman from Kpataribogu in the Northern region of Ghana. She is married with five children. She is the person squatting with both hands placed on the basin of shea nuts in the group picture.

Meli is a member of a shea nuts processing group whose members have been processing shea nuts over the past four years. Their group is called ‘Tungteeya - Kpatari-Bugu’ Women Group. Meli and her group have a ready market for their products. She and every member of her group have been trained by Grameen Ghana on how to improve ways of processing quality nuts for both home and export markets.

Meli and the group have asked for another loan of GHS 6,100.00 after they successfully paid off their previous loan. Her share of the loan is GHS 400.00 which would help her to process six more bags of shea nuts. By doing so, she would earn more income and hence pay back this loan and also support her children. Meli thanks her lenders for their support.
