A loan helped to grow his business by opening his second mobile money transfer outlet in Lusaka, Zambia.

Caesar's story

Caesar, now 25 years old and a father of one, has been running his Zoona money transfer business for one year. He got his first Kiva loan in January and is making good payments. The loan helped Caesar to purchase the trading kiosk he was using to serve customers. By owning his trading kiosk, Caesar was able to save on rental costs. Today, Caesar has employed two people working for him.

He is requesting a second loan, so that he can open his second mobile money transfer outlet in his hometown and continue to grow his Zoona mobile money transfer business. He says the Kiva loan will help him satisfy the demand from his customers. Caesar is one of the Zoona mobile money agents in Lusaka and this puts pressure on him to always have money to serve customers. He would like to open a second shop to meet the growing demand and reduce some of the congestion that has accumulated at his first outlet.

Caesar will use his Kiva loan to purchase a trading booth, hire one more person, purchase a web-enabled phone and add to his working capital. Caesar would like to thank his Kiva lenders for their assistance. As a young micro-entrepreneur in Zambia, he says working capital finance is very difficult to find, and therefore he has appreciated the opportunity to be linked to Kiva lenders. He is now sending more money to support his son.
