Silvia is continuing with her business of sewing hats of Sao palm. Her previous loan was invested in purchasing Sao leaves, cloth, glue, and other necessary items. Her scheduled payments were punctually made with no problems. And her new goal is to open a sales stall in the local market.
Due to the good support she has received, Silvia has organized, once again, this bank of persons to solicit a loan and improve their activities. Her principal need is Sao palm leaves. They is cut from the upper part of the palm tree at the height of 20 meters. The palm leaf harvestors climb to the highest point with their machete and without any means of security. “The majority of the village and the surrounding communities live from the Sao palm; it is out principal necessity,” she comments. The advantage of the business is that sales are at wholesale. The disadvantage is the lack of capital for purchasing work materials.
Silvia's dream is to cover the family's expenses. She wants to buy primary materials for making her Sao palm hats. This is her second in a series of loans with our institution during the seven consecutive years she has been involved in this activity.
That is why Silvia is requesting a loan – to purchase primary materials so that she can continue making Sao palm hats and with the earnings, feed her family.
