Aizhan is 33 years old, divorced, and the mother of three. She has received secondary education and is engaged in farm work. Thanks to Aizhan's hard work, she now has a field of 1.8 ha [4.5 acres], where she grows peppers and beans for sale. She also sells staple groceries and household goods. In total, her business brings in about 8,000 soms (KGS) per month.
In order to develop her business further, Aizhan has applied to the Bai Tushum microfinance association for a loan in the amount of 20,000 KGS to buy mineral fertilizers to treat her soil and grow organic produce. Aizhan plans to invest the revenues from her loan in a further expansion of her business. She also would like to save up for her children's education.
