Modibo is a farmer who has joined myAgro. He lives and works in the village of Siby, which is southwest of Bamako in Mali. At 39 years old, he is the father of four children, aged from two to 18 years old. Two of the children are currently in school.
Modibo became a farmer, because it is a family tradition, it provides a principal source of revenue and food for his household, and because it allows him to ensure his family's self-sufficiency. He grows corn on his one hectare of land. He faces difficulties as a farmer though, such as lack of rain and farming supplies.
This year, he wanted to buy a seeding machine to grow corn. Access to this machine will allow him to do his work more quickly than last year.
Modibo hopes that with an increase in yields and earnings he will be able to cover his children's school fees and ensure the self-sufficiency of his family's food needs.
