A loan helped to pay for her child's school fees.

Sothea's story

Sothea is 40 years old and lives in a remote area of the Battambang province. She has three children with only one in school. She has grown corn and cassava to support her family for the last 10 years. She faces some challenges such as lacking water to support her cash crop and the fluctuation in market prices of crops, forcing her to sell at a lower price. She doesn't have enough money to support her child’s education so she decided to take out a Kiva loan to fulfill her needs. For Sothea, this is her first loan with VisionFund (Kiva’s partner). She is going to use her loan to pay for her child's school fees. She hopes that this loan will help her child have a good job after graduation.
