A loan helped a member to buy fertilizers for her farmland, for a healthy and abundant rice crop.

Sombor's Group's story

Sombor, 57, lives with her husband and four children in a rural village of the Sangke district of Battambang province, Cambodia. She has struggled to feed and care for her children by growing cassava which she has been in the business of for 20 years, while her husband buys and sells recycle items and sometimes he works for others for a fee to add up more income for the family. Lack of working capital is the main challenge for operating her business.

Sombor’s group consists of two members who have been with VisionFund for two cycles and they completely paid back the loans. Sombor wisely and successfully used the loans from VisionFund to relieve family’s financial burden and afford to buy some basic household necessities for the family. As the leader, she is leading her group to apply for another loan. She wants to use her portion to buy fertilizers for her farmland. She hopes to grow her rice well and earn more healthy crops to make a living better.
