A loan helped a member to buy meat at wholesale.

Las Vencedoras Group's story

The communal association "Las Vencedoras" is beginning their ninth cycle in Pro Mujer, as part of the Centro Focal de Alto Lima. It is made up of nine members, and headed by a board of directors, with Mirian as their president. The businesses that the members of the communal association conduct are varied, and include: selling meat, selling clothing, selling CDs, selling hats, selling potatoes, selling food, and selling fruit.

The loan they are requesting will benefit micro-entrepreneurs including Mirian. She comments that eight years ago, she joined Pro Mujer, at the invitation of her sister, who was already a client. Now she has a business selling meat, a trade she learned from her sister several years ago.

The present loan they are seeking is for raising capital for purchasing meat at wholesale, which will be purchased from the wholesale vendors in La Paz, and later sold in her shop. This business allows her to generate income to support her extended family, as she is single.

When asked what she likes about Pro Mujer, Mirian replies that she likes the training and the savings the institution provides.

In this group: Mirian, Arminda, Luisa Mabel, Juana Dominga, Laura Norma, Amalia, Maria Virginia, Roxana, Lucy Sara
