Catarina, 55, grows a diverse array of local flowers to earn money and support her 8 children. She has been doing this work for 10 years, and in order to increase her income she also sells beans, corn and spare parts. Her humble family lives in the community of Solola.
Since her flower crop is her largest source of income, it has become her top priority. She has realized that she should take advantage of the rainy season to improve her fields, but in order to do this she needs seeds, chemical and organic fertilizers, insecticides and fungicides. She is asking for a loan to help buy all of these inputs.
Catarina hopes to get the loan so that she can grow her crops and make good profits in order to save some money for when times are tough.
