A loan helped to buy compost and fertilizer in order to plant corn and beans.

Maria Margarita's story

Maria is 47 years old. She did not go to school because her parents did not worry about whether or not she learned to read and write. Currently, she is attending a literacy program, where young adults in her community are teaching her to read and write.

She is married, and her husband makes a living taking care of the land and livestock that belong to a person from their community. He has been working there for the past 10 years, and his job consists of cleaning the pastures, feeding the cows, and changing their pastures.

Maria previously worked performing farm work. Her responsibilities were trimming, fertilizing, and cutting coffee crops. With this work, she supported her entire family.

Maria needs a loan to buy compost and fertilizer in order to plant corn and beans, which are the basic grains that are used by families as nourishment. She has many dreams, but more than anything she wants her family to have livestock and land where they can work on their own.
